The early church endured injustice

“If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still.” (Ecclesiastes 5:8 NIV).

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”fn says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19 NIV).

“For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”fnand again, “The Lord will judge his people.” (Hebrews 10:30 NIV).

“I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.” (Revelation 2:23 NIV).

Sometimes our conscience compels us to seek justice

“If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”” (Acts 25:11 NIV).

“The Jews objected, so I was compelled to make an appeal to Caesar. I certainly did not intend to bring any charge against my own people.” (Acts 28:19 NIV).
