Bringing Righteous Change

Sean Grayson faced multiple charges in the shooting death of Sonya Massey because she said ‘I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.”

A Peoria County jury found former Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy Sean Grayson guilty October 29, 2025 of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Sonya Massey.

Sean Grayson, 31, of Riverton had faced first-degree murder charges, which carried a sentence range of 45 years to life in prison. The second-degree conviction carries a sentence of 4 to 20 years with the possibility of probation.

Ephesians 4:26 says, “Be ye angry, and sin not:”.

Know this, God will make this right. Sonya Massey and countless others have not suffered senseless violence in vain. God will do it.

Please call on God, in the name of Jesus, asking him to fulfill his promise to deliver us from evil (Matthew 6:9-13).

As a people, we must cry out to God for forgiveness of our sins, not only so-called black people, but all nations must divorce themselves from evil and cry out to God, owning and confessing our sin.

The whole earth, even nature itself is in distress because humanity is fast losing its sense of morality and charity.

“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,” (Matthew 24:12 NIV).

This is yet another opportunity, possibly the last opportunity for many of us to effect righteous change, not only in Illinois, but also across all of America and the world.

“The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.” (Pro 11:6  KJV).

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34  KJV).

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Proverbs 29:2 KJV).

If those who profess to be Christian would enter into their closets and pray believing that their prayers are heard and answered, righteous change would happen in the earth.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 KJV).

We must pray for all people

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (1Timothy 2:1-2 KJV).

If we truly love the author and finisher of our faith, then it’s time for us to enter into our closets, humble ourselves and pray as our Christ instructed. We will receive mercy and grace to help us through these days of tribulation.

2Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.

Look, I get it! Some of us think that we should take it upon ourselves to physically battle against the enemy of our faith and liberty. But we are not fighting against men, our enemies are spiritual enemies manifesting themselves through evil men. Do not yield to them but resist them by the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

That is why it is written in the letter to the Ephesians, telling them (us) that we should put on the Whole Armor of God.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in ye the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” (Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV).

“9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:9-13 KJV).

“O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.” (Jeremiah 16:19 KJV).

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”(Jeremiah 17:5 KJV).

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.” (Jeremiah 17:7 KJV).

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14 KJV).

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. (Exodus 14:13 KJV).

“And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.

He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.” (Isaiah 14:3-7 KJV).

It’s time for us to trust that our God will fight for us. We can’t accomplish anything that is lasting by allowing ourselves to go out riotous again.

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:12-14 KJV)

“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.” (1Peter 4:1-5 KJV)
